Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Reggiani Macchine S.p.A.
have established a first-of-its- kind Digital Technological
Center (DTC) for industrial
digital printing advancement. An independent organization
located in Grassobbio, Bergamo, Italy, the DTC is dedicated
to research and development focusing on digital workflow,
production processes,validation of new digital inks
and digital pre- and post-treatment.

The DTC is specifically geared to:
.Developing new inks and pre- and post-treatment systems
. Supporting Reggiani in the development of software and hardware, color calibration, CAD driver releases, upgrades and work flow research
. Coordinating and hosting events and conferences to foster the spread of industrial digital printing
. Validation of customers' industrial printing trials: print quality and& color performance
. Supporting textile universities in promoting industrial digital printing

The center will contribute to new business development by offering clients extensive assistance with their industrial needs, as well as helping them attain the know-how necessary to set a benchmark for digital printing internationally.
It offers services including sampling, printer driver acceptance for third parties, short run production, collection development,
color calibration, pre- and post-treatment know-how,
on-line technological support, education, client start-up, and the set-up of "turnkey" industrial textile processes.
The DTC provides value-added service, offering clients greatly enhanced digital printing performance supported with a high level of service. The DTC team comprises highly qualified personnel offering a wide range of experience that is unmatched in the industry.
The staff includes experts in machine engineering, industrial textiles, inks, chemistry, software and colorimetric science.

The DTC,
completed a 5 day training course.
A group of 4 specialists in the CAD processing with experience
working in the textile field. This group was made up of students
from Austria and Spain, the course was given in English. |
The following topics
were demonstrated;
Day 1 - Digital
printing, color management, machine features and capabilities
Day 2 - The
DReAM printing engine (GUI) and machine functions
Day 3 - DReAM
security and maintenance requirements
Day 4 - Chemistry,
theory of fabric pre-treatment and how it is applied
Day 5 - Mechanics
and hardware calibration

Successful machine installations to date.
As of August 1, 2004 Reggiani Macchine S.P.A.
has successfully installed DReAM printers in the following locations;
Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria and the
United States
The machines mentioned above are running Reactive,
Acid and Disperse dyes. Printing a variety of substrates; Cotton,
Leather, Polyester, Lycra and Carpeting.
